Leader of Color seeks to pay tribute to the achievements of black political leaders in America through the art of one-line illustrations. Combining the principles of minimalism and symbolism, I’ve crafted a series of images that distill the essence of figures such as Barack Obama, John Lewis, Martin Luther King Jr., and Stacey Abrams, among others. Every line, singular yet fluid, tells a story of struggle, perseverance, and extraordinary accomplishment, echoing the individual paths these leaders navigated in their fight for equality, justice, and social change.

The illustrations aim to communicate the significance and depth of each leader’s contribution, emphasizing their profound impact on American society and politics. Each piece was meticulously designed to evoke the spirit of the person, carefully blending aesthetics and historical context. I strived to balance simplicity and expressiveness, resulting in a series that captures both the singularity and the collective spirit of these remarkable figures. This project underscored the intersection of art and socio-political commentary, illuminating the enduring legacy of these iconic black leaders through the powerful medium of design.
